FACILITIES MANAGER Job Summary: Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens seeks a full-time Facilities Manager to manage the Facilities team and execute effective daily/deep cleaning programs as well as staffing to support event set-up and tear-down logistics. The manager ensures appropriate training for Facilities staff and implements a risk management program to promote a safe work environment. This position also manages vendor relationships and facility-wide programs that promote cost savings and environmental responsibility. The Facilities Manager plays a key role in coordinating activities within the facilities department and with other departments. Responsibilities: Ensures a high level of building cleanliness at all times. Hires and trains new staff. Schedules department hours and appropriate staffing to support event and operational needs. Manages and coaches staff members on performance issues, work projects, departmental communication, and peer interactions. Works closely with the Events department to execute event set-ups and tear-downs in a timely manner. Works closely with the Engineering department to oversee maintenance equipment and repairs in a timely manner. Works with volunteers appointed to the Facilities department including the scheduling of assignments. Manages vendor relationships for custodial supplies and equipment with a focus on cost savings and environmental responsibility. Serves on a Safety Committee to ensure appropriate risk management and safety procedures are implemented. Performs other duties as assigned and demonstrates focus on serving the visitors and guests of the Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. Requirements: High school diploma or G.E.D equivalent Minimum one year previous supervisory experience Minimum two years’ experience in building maintenance and event set up Available on-call when emergency situation arise Knowledge of basic computer programs such as Windows, Word, Excel and PowerPoint Valid Driver’s License Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Effective written and oral communication skills. Demonstrates problem solving and planning skills. Strong customer service skills. Knowledge of floor cleaning equipment. Ability to work independently and achieve department projects and budget goals. Ability to work in a fast paced environment. Ability to frequently lift, carry or otherwise move materials weighing 50lbs or more.
